Who are we?

We are a student-led nonprofit organization that began unofficially in 2019. Since then we have worked to assist the underprivileged in our community. Our focus is on helping to provide needed resources to disadvantaged youth in the greater Los Angeles county.

Our members include both high school and college students. Contact us if you would like to volunteer!

  • Clothing

In 2022 we collected over 200 bags of clothing and donated them to needy families. This year our goal is to go directly to the underserved population in our local area. The number of unhoused individuals in our vicinity has increased dramatically since 2020. We want to make sure the clothing gets directly into the hands hands of the people who really need them.

    Other Necessities

In addition to clothing, homeless youth are in need of blankets, toiletries, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, etc. By expanding our focus to collecting other necessities, we can better serve the disadvantaged in our area.

    Food

In addition to our Sack Lunch Delivery Days, we would like to organize a food drive and distribution event this year. Our goal is to advance change by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all in the communities we serve. Our focus is on the disadvantaged youth population in public schools. Research suggests it is difficult to focus on academics when you are hungry. The hope is this resource will serve local students.

  • We celebrate differences! We embrace all youth regardless of race, ethnicity, ancestry, skin color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, relationship status, personal appearance, family roles, political affiliation, or disability. We believe all people should have equitable access and ability to meet their basic needs.

  • We are a student-led nonprofit organization formed unofficially in 2019. That year after an encounter with a homeless boy Ford began collecting jeans for teenagers in the community. He recruited friends and family to help collect and distribute over 1000 pairs of jeans for the local homeless community. After seeing the direct benefit of these efforts, a passion for community service was born.

Since then, The Project Do Good has continued the mission of assisting the disadvantaged in our community. In 2022, the Project was made an official California nonprofit corporation. While our efforts are small and local now, our goal is to eventually build Project Do Good into a large charity organization focused on assisting disadvantaged youth.
